Our Pipeline
SAAS prioritizes academic and professional development through education and projects. Our pipeline enables students to learn and gain proficiency in machine learning and data science, regardless of their prior experience level.
Committees
Our pipeline consists of 3 committees. We provide a community for people of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Data Mentorship
What to Expect: Advanced ML workshops + mentorship through a client project
Requirements: Knowledge of Pandas, sklearn, and introductory ML concepts or some project/internship experience
Data Consulting
What to Expect: Advanced technical AI/ML client project
Requirements: Significant internship, research, or project experience in AI/ML
Data Foundations
Data Foundations is our introduction to data science committee. Through lectures from our Education committee, DF learns data science fundamentals, with topics primarily from Data 8 and Data 100.
The semester closes with a final project on each group's topic of choice. Outside of lectures, DF is integrated into the SAAS family through weekly challenges, professional development, and the Big Little System.
Data Mentorship
Data Mentorship serves as an introduction to consulting. After preparatory workshops on advanced ML topics, members take on a client project with heavy mentorship from their directors. The semester concludes with a final deliverable presentation to the clients.
Data Consulting
Data Consulting consists of four project teams with 6–8 SAASies each. Project managers lead their team through a complex technical machine-learning project and present their findings to the client at the end of the semester.
Education
Our Education committee is the main pillar supporting our Pipeline. They develop the curriculum, give lectures to Data Foundations, and create additional resources that help SAASies brush up on their data science knowledge.
